Congratulations to the co-star of The Attic Door Jake Johnson, whose ABC pilot MAN UP was picked up to series! Jake will be a regular on the series, which stars Christopher Moynihan (A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration), Mather Zickel (The Cape), Dan Fogler (Balls of Fury), Teri Polo (Meet the Fockers), Amanda Detmer (What About Brian) and Henry Simmons (Shark).
The show will air this fall, Tuesdays at 8:30pm, between the new Tim Allen series Last Man Standing and a little show called Dancing With the Stars.
Man Up comes from writer/executive producer/actor Moynihan, executive producer Victor Fresco (the very funny Better off Ted), Ron West and Kelly Kulchak of Tagline Television (Psych) and director Beth McCarthy-Miller (SNL, 30 Rock). Man Up is produced by ABC Studios.
The show follows three modern men try who to get in touch with their inner tough guys and redefine what it means to be a “real man†in this funny and relatable comedy:
“Will’s grandfather fought in WWII. Will’s father fought in Vietnam. Will plays Call of Duty on his PS3 and drinks non-dairy hazelnut creamer. So what happened to all the real men? They’re still here — they just smell like pomegranate body wash now. Meet Will (Mather Zickel). His evolved, sensitive nature is why his awesome wife, Theresa (Teri Polo), married him. But Will and his friends find themselves wondering — in a world of Axe ads and manscaping — what does it really mean to be a guy anymore? Will is more interested in finding the perfect gift for his son Nathan’s (Jake Johnson) 13th birthday than in doing his job selling insurance; sensitive soul Craig (Christopher Moynihan) still pines for his college ex, Lisa; and Kenny (Dan Fogler) clamps down on his anger and asks himself, “What would Tobey Maguire do?,†when his ex, Brenda (Amanda Detmer), starts seeing a guy (Henry Simmons) who is everything he’s not and much better looking. After Craig crashes Lisa’s wedding to try to win her back, they are all faced with an opportunity to Man Up and be like their forefathers”
This is huge for Jake, and we couldn’t be prouder of him! Congratulations, Jake!
A shout out to our wonderful casting director, Erica Silverman, who won a Heller Awards from the Talent Managers Association (TMA) Board of Directors at the 2009 Heller Award Ceremony for Outstanding Talent Agents on October 20, 2009. The event celebrates the people responsible for building actors’ careers and recognized their outstanding achievements and contributions to the entertainment industry.
Erica Silverman helped weed through hundreds of child actors, holding many casting calls and dealing with a lot of parents. She is single-handily responsible for finding our leads Jake Johnson and Madison Davenport, of which we owe the success of our entire film. We love you Erica and wish you many more successes.

Today we launch our PRESS PAGE! This is a one stop shop for photos, articles, video, and anything else helpful if you were to be so inclined to write about the film. Please leave us feedback on how we can make this more useful. Check out some more publicity photos below:
It’s a nice moment when you can watch the efforts of colleagues come to life on the screen, whether it be in something you made and are watching for the first time, or someone else’s project. It’s especially nice when that moment is a surprise, like the one I had last night while watching the CBS comedy Gary Unmarried.
On the show, Jay Mohr plays a newly-divorced dad trying to readjust to single life and having joint custody of his children. In last night’s episode, “Gary Goes First”, Gary and his ex-wife fight over who is going to be there for the “firsts” in their children’s lives – first concert, first shave, etc. In their competition, they accelerate the kids’ lives, forcing them to go through things they’re not quite ready for, like Gary’s ex trying to send their daughter Louise on her first date with her friend Scotty, played by our very own Jake Johnson!
Below is a link to the episode. Jake appears at the 12:08 mark, but watch the whole episode if you have time – it’s a funny show and has a nice family dynamic that is missing from most television shows.
Congratulations to Jake on this guest starring role!
