Kane County, Utah

Writer-Director
One exciting aspect of the film is that it will be shot in Kane County, Utah, one of the most famous Western locations in the history of the cinema. When legendry filmmaker John Ford left Los Angeles to begin making Westerns, the first place he ventured was Kane County with films such as “Drums Along the Mohawk” (1939) and “Stagecoach” (1939). Recently, the Kane County Office of Tourism and Film Commission chose The Attic Door for a production grant allowing us to shoot this film in such a legendary location.
In the beginning of March, the ATTIC team journeyed to Utah to begin initial scouting. What we found was better than we could of ever imagined.

That place looks amazing. Should be a great place to film the movie. Has the terrain presented any difficulties, or do you anticipate any problems with filming out there? How hot does it get?

There will definitely be some difficulties shooting out in the middle of nowhere for a whole week of production. However, John Ford and countless other classic filmmakers took similar journeys to make their films before there were roads up and down these red rocks. We are fortunate enough to have a pretty accessible route.

As for temperature, it gets hot. However, I am from Florida and here it doesn’t just get hot, it gets crazy humid. In Kane County during the summer we are looking at a dry heat around high 93, low 58.

I am so jealous that you get to film in such an incredible place. It will be an amazing adventure I am sure!
